The third ATLARGE event (ATLantic Rec.Gambling Excursion) was held
April 10-12,
1998 at the Tropicana, which is well-known among poker players for its
super poker room. I think everyone had a great time, even those (like
me :-) that left town with less money than they came with. We especially
want to thank Patrice Munafo, who did a great job on the trophies,
the name tags, the banquet and a host of other details that kept her very
busy in the weeks before the event, as well as during the event itself.
The event itself would not have been possible without the extraordinary
effort of Marie McHugh, who made sure that everything was copasetic
with the Casino Control Commission. We also want to single out the
tournament directors, Steve Augst and Aimee Thompson, who made sure that
everything went without a hitch, and the stirling Tropicana dealers who
did an amazing job, especially considering that No Limit events are pretty
new at the Trop. Of course, the extremely well-run room is the
responsibility of Kate Dumas, who is doing an outstanding job.
Finally, we would be remiss if we did not mention
Will Espin, Vice President of Poker and Simulcast, who has brought
the Tropicana to the forefront in computer-aware poker rooms and is well-known
to many of us on the net.
Attendance was down somewhat (especially on Sunday) because of the conflict
with Passover and Easter, but we still had 52 in the Hold'em event and
37 in Stud. You can

from 1998's tournament, and an excellent
trip report by Jeff Woods.
